EB Cross Country Adventure Ride

For the third consecutive year, Gary will be raising funds to support families living with Epidermolysis Bullosa. From 13-27th April, Gary will be participating in the gruelling 2013 EB Cross Country Adventure Ride and will raise funds along the way for the charity DEBRA.

DEBRA supports sufferers of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) which is a rare disease whereby the skin blisters and peels at the slightest touch. EB children are sometimes called the ‘butterfly children‘; because their skin is said to be as fragile as a butterfly’s wings. Living with EB has been likened to living with third degree burns. It is very painful, and sufferers must be bandaged every day with dressings to protect and medicate their wounds.

This rally is no ordinary ride around the block. Gary will be travelling on dirt bikes to the following iconic QLD locations:-

Mount Perry  >  Town of 1770  >  Whitsunday Mainland  >  Charters Towers  > Hughenden (start of Dinosaur Trail) > Richmond > Kynuna (Blue Heeler Pub) > Winton >  Lark Quarry  >  Stone Henge  >  Adavale  >  St. George  >   Darling Downs

Along the way he will be raising money and spreading the word about EB.

It has been a particularly disastrous start to the year for so many people all over Queensland and many parts of Australia with flooding, wild weather and bush fires affecting many people, either directly or indirectly in many different ways. Those who haven’t been affected and even some of those who have are giving generously to various appeals to assist flood and bush fire affected communities.

The flooding and the flow-on economic effects have caused difficulties for quite a few of our fellow entrants who have, for various reasons, had to pull out of this year’s fund-raising event. It is for this reason that we ask for great generosity from everyone who can give a donation to this very worthy and much unknown cause.

Every day, every month and every year, the children affected by EB and their families who support them are living through their very own traumatic event. Here, there is no cleanup operation, no 24 hour news coverage, there is no getting on with lives. This issue doesn’t go away. It is with them for life.

For this charity Gary has agreed to raise $3300.00 but had set himself a goal to raise over $4000.00.

This is where you come in, because he needs your help to reach this target. Your donation – no matter how small or large – will help, but as you know the more you give the more benefit will go to these most worthy recipients.

They need our help.
